General Note
The first meeting of interested young women for the purpose of seeking to organize a Circle for the young women of the Church was held in the Summer of 1958. There were seven women in attendance at the first meeting. Another meeting was held in August, and in September it was decided to definitely try to organize a Young Women's Group. At the September meeting, several Committees were appointed, with Mrs. Wayne Davis selected as Chairman of the Program Committee, Mrs. Chester Springer as Chairman of the Finance Committee, and Mrs. Floyd Jeter as Chairman of the Membership Committee. In October, the Young Women were officially organized, and selected as their official name, "The Ruth Circle". At this meeting, officers were selected to lead the Circle for the remaining part of the Church year. It was also decided at this meeting that the programs during the remainder of the Church year (through May, 19f9), would be on the theme, "The Major Religions of the World". Already, in its short history, the Ruth Circle has become a vital part of the Church, has had several projects, has been a big factor in getting a Church Nursery established, and has contributed generously to the finances of the local Church. -- by Rev. F. L. Cribbs.
